Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Customization and implementation of a new automated dog- and application-tracking computer system for our rescue. Our volunteer-only, foster-based rescue has gone from rescuing and rehoming fewer than 150 small dogs to 600 in a relatively short period of time.

This system enables us to do the following:

- Be more efficient in our tracking of dogs as they enter our process for foster assignments, medical care and adoptions
- Enable our fosters to review applications in a timely manner to ensure the best home for each dog
- Increase adoptions
- Reduce returns
- Rescue more dogs

How many pets did this grant help?

Difficult to quanitfy at this time as we just went live with this program on 9/1

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sweetie was an owner surrender whose owners had died and their family did not want this sweet dog. We were informed that she was up-to-date on shots, spayed and free of medical issues — which could not have been further from the truth. We got all of her medical issues taken care of and were quickly able to get her adopted into a new home. In the last photo, she’s pictured on the left with her new family and twinsie fur sibling.
