Kellers Kats Rescue, Inc.: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We were able to offer cats at a reduced price at our "Klear the Klubhouse" event. We, like many other rescues across the country, have struggled this year. The extended kitten season, along with increased requests to surrender pets, has put our intake and retention numbers at the highest level that we can manage.

We are blessed with an extraordinary all-volunteer team who have cared for cats from neonatal day-old cats to a senior just under 16 years of age. Horrendous injuries that have required the use of a hyperbaric chamber (the only one in New York State) took us into uncharted territory.

We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Petfinder Foundation team through the awarding of grant money that is critical to our success.

Cats who have spent various lengths of time in our care were adopted. Days in our system ranged from 46 to a whopping 833! That is 119 weeks, 28 months, or 2 1/3 years.

Zinnia (on the right in the first photo) was adopted after giving birth to five kittens who all were adopted. She stayed with us for 79 days after being an exemplary mom.

Sterling (second photo) and Blue Iris (third photo) moved from building to building to building until they were adopted together in July of this year.
