How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant is helping us reduce adoption fees or cover the cost of adoption fees for our adult cats, senior cats, and special-needs cats. We will also use it to reduce some of our small-animal adoption fees for guinea pigs, rabbits, and ferrets, which are harder to adopt out.

Mama Ruby has been in our car since March of 2021. She was a pregnant mom but not very friendly. We got all her babies adopted out but the foster was not making any progress.

We moved her in June of 2021 to a foster who had more experience and patience with cats like her. The foster worked with her for a year. She built a relationship with her, but Ruby only opened up to her, not the other family members.

Once the foster had had her for a year, she realized that the best place for Ruby was with her. We used the grant to cover the adoption fee so Ruby could stay with her foster forever.

Quinn is a rabbit we took in from NYCACC. He had been attacked and needed a rescue to take on the vet costs. We got Quinn back to healthy and used the grant to cover the cost of his adoption fee. He went to a great home and eventually will meet his other rabbit sibling.
