How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Through the 2024 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Toledo Animal Rescue was able to offer reduced adoption fees for 20 dogs. After we advertised the special rates compliments of the grant, more interested adopters submitted applications, which resulted in reduced lengths of stays as more dogs found homes more quickly.

Latte is a 16-month-old shepherd/husky mix who arrived in mid-November. Her previous owner was elderly and unable to meet the high-energy needs of this sweet girl.

She arrived skittish and wary of strangers, making it difficult for her to show her best self to potential adopters. Staff worked with her to help her gain confidence and, even as she did, we were not seeing any adoption interest for her.

Once we posted about the grant on our social media and website, complete with a flyer highlighting Latte and other available dogs, we began seeing more interest in her. Of course, Latte did her part by continuing to open up to staff and visitors alike.

Eighty-six days after her arrival, Latte was adopted and has been living her best life ever since.

I believe the promotional adoption fees that were made possible by the Petfinder Foundation 2024 Kia Pet Adoption Grant helped find Latte her fur-ever home.
