Progressive Animal Welfare Society Adoption Center, Inc.: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Keeping the dogs in the kennels warm during the cold months.

The Warm Bellies Grant's Chill Pads actually came at the perfect time! Our kennel furnace broke and wouldn't heat above 50 degrees for two days. The dogs stayed snuggly and warm with the Chill Pads and did great through the repairs. Now they've still got them and consider them their "woobies." Chill Pad security blankets all around. Thank you so much for the grant! We appreciate you all!

Leo has been with us for quite some time. He came from [an open-admission] shelter in Kentucky and we believe he was abused. He is timid and scared around new people and it is certainly an obstacle for potential adopters. We’ve been working with Leo for almost three years now and, while he’s doing better outside of the kennel, he traditionally goes back to his fearful behaviors once returned to the kennel. Now that Leo has his Chill Pad, he has become more confident in his space. He is less afraid and is definitely getting more rest over the nights. We used to come in and find any toys completely torn up from his anxiety over the nights. Now, his kennel is clean, his toys are intact, and his Chill Pad is right where we left it … under his belly!
