Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART): Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was instrumental in preparing dogs and cats rescued by HART for National Adoption Weekend. We spayed or neutered 16 animals with this grant. Twelve of these animals were adopted during adoption events held during this time. Those animals are now in loving homes. Adopting these animals enabled HART to rescue another 15 animals. So the net effect of your generosity was magnified.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The first photo is Tonka. Tonka was found wandering along the highway in northern Kentucky. He was severely emaciated and looked to have been on his own for a long time. But it was Tonka’s lucky day, as a HART volunteer saw him and was able to capture him before he was hit on the highway.

He was so weak, his foster was concerned that he might not make it. But with the love and care of the foster and all the food and medicines supplied by HART, Tonka gained weight and healed.

After he was stronger, he was neutered using the funding from the Petfinder Foundation. After healing, he attended the national adoption event and was adopted!
