OAIC, Inc. Indian Summers Border Collie Rescue: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Food

The Sponsor a Pet donations totaled $112.50, which was used to buy three bags, a three-month supply, of food for one dog. With no dog food company sponsorship, we have to buy out-of-pocket all food, supplements (and we give eight pills per day, per dog, of herbal naturopathic meds, which costs $60 per dog per month, then there is the cost of flea and heartworm preventative which is $29 per dog per month). We feed all no-grain, high-end dry dog food and same in treats. Each dog costs us $127 per month for the above and that is after we alter each dog and do whatever else is needed, as in dental care, tumor removals, dew-claw removals, worming, etc. So every penny is needed and appreciated.

How many pets did this grant help?

One dog for three months or three for one month, whichever way you want to do the math.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We have several seniors in our care at the Indian Summers RezQ Silver Muzzle Country Club. Kayla has been a member for years, due to no one wanting to adopt a senior blind dog. Kayla is 14 years young, blind and has chronic pancreatitis and needs a low-fat, high-protein diet. We feed her Blue Buffalo Wilderness Gold Bag and so far she is doing well on it. Kayla also takes daily one pill of each of these supplements: Hawthorn Berry, Milk Thistle, Omega 3, Glyco-flex II, Vit E and a full B-complex. We maintain her on Revolution for fleas and heartworm prevention. This donation helped Kayla, who enjoys life with 14 other Border Collies here at Indian Summers Border Collie RezQ. Thankrooos from Kayla Lou
