Lucas County Pit Crew: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the money to sponsor a lower adoption fee for two dogs.

It enabled two dogs to be adopted quickly and still covered part of the veterinary costs for our rescue to fully vet the dogs for adoption.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Monty (first photo) was found at the scene of a triple homicide in Idaho along with almost 70 other dogs from a dog-fighting operation. The Lucas County Pit Crew brought Monty back to Ohio to help prepare him for a fun-loving family life. This compact little dog prefers the company of adults and enjoys an evening walk. Monty is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He is crate trained, walks well on a leash, and knows his basic good manners. He loves lying on laps and is a pillow hog. Mabel (second photo) was a young dog who was considered unadoptable by our local dog warden due to Demodex. She was placed on the transfer page and we brought her into our program. Demodex is easy to treat, but does require some recovery time in a foster home. Fortunately the sponsor money helped pay for the treatment and enabled us to offer a lower adoption fee for her. She was adopted quickly into a loving family.
