Memphis Street Animal Rescue: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We are so grateful for the Petfinder Foundation Cat Enrichment Grant! This grant has allowed us to increase our "Domeowcile" cat room at our Thrift & Paw store by nearly double the square feet. The materials used also made the room visible and more accessible for shoppers from the inside rather than just from the windows on the exterior. The room has always been accessible to shoppers; however, it had solid interior walls rather than glass, so many did not realize it was a cat enclosure without being told what it was or noticing it from the exterior window.
In addition to the increase in size and visibility, we were able to add a cat wheel and several cat-enrichment toys to the area. The room size is already making an impact on adoptions, as it is easier for potential adopters to interact with the cats they are considering in a more spacious and homelike environment.

Currently, Tuesday is in the room and LOVING having the extra space, as his previous space was our kitten enclosure with far less room to play. He is enjoying climbing on every cat tree and exploring every nook and cranny; he also really enjoys tapping on the glass to try and coax the shoppers to visit him.
This space allows possible adopters to see how a cat might interact at home versus just in a cage, giving them a higher likelihood of finding the perfect match. Tuesday is hoping to find his perfect match soon!
