Alliston & District Humane Society: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant will help all the animals in our care. Due to the increasing number of abandonments and surrenders, the need for spay and neuter services has skyrocketed. ADHS estimates that 95% of animals coming to us in 2024 are not altered. Spay and neuter services are one of the most important tools to ensure animal health and welfare. Increased neutering and spaying of animals reduces the health risk for pets and the chronic problem of abandoned and stray animals in our communities.

Benji and Banjo were found together, roaming the streets alone in a local community. Animal Control suspected that they were from a local puppy mill, and the breeders were unable to sell them so they decided to dump the dogs on the road.
Both dogs came to Alliston & District Humane Society extremely scared and shut-down. They would run away when people tried to get close and would freeze once on a leash.
Both dogs have now found their new homes. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation, these dogs were neutered and also received a full set of vaccinations and microchips before they went to their furever homes!
