Your support has allowed us to treat Trudy, a 9-year-old German Shepherd mix who ended up in [an open-admission] shelter because her people no longer wanted her. There, she spent much of her time in a crate, carted around in an attempt to find her a home. She got no exercise and she had a hard time walking when a rescue on the Oregon coast took her in. That rescue went under and that’s where My Way Home Dog Rescue came in.

We brought Trudy to the Portland area and learned that she’s what we call a “bulletproof dog.” She gets along with other dogs, cats, chickens, kids, and every other creature that she meets. Trudy needed some love, a place to stretch her legs, and some care to heal from years of veterinary neglect.

When we brought Trudy in, we had the veterinarian do a senior blood panel, a teeth cleaning, and check any lumps and bumps to determine if she had cancer. Her lumps turned out to be fatty lipomas, but her teeth cleaning revealed four teeth that needed to be extracted. The funds from this grant made a huge dent in Trudy’s medical care, which totaled over $1,400. Trudy is healthy and ready to find her forever home. Her foster family loves her and will be sorry to see her go.

UPDATE Oct. 8, 2015: Trudy’s home! Her new name is Maeby (from a character on the TV show Arrested Development). Her family is anxious to show her off to the neighbors. She finally has the home she’s been looking for. Have a great life, Maeby!
