Forgotten Felines and Fidos, Inc.: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Alexandria is a senior cat at our shelter and is still waiting for the right owner to come along to care for her. Because she requires prescription food and medications and needs to be an only cat, Alexandria has not been adopted yet. She does not get along with other cats, and volunteers have tried to work with her on this. Alexandria is on prescription food and medications because of her anxiety and how sick she can get without them.

There have been two potential adopters, but they did not want a cat on prescription food because of their other cats, whom Alexandria cannot be with because of her anxiety.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Alexandria has not been adopted yet. We are hopeful the right person will come along and see how amazing and loving she is. For now, she lives at our shelter and is cared for with all she needs, including snuggles from our volunteers.

UPDATE SEPT. 25, 2024: Just a few weeks shy of her two-year anniversary of coming to Forgotten Felines and Fidos in Germansville, PA, our sweet Alexandria got adopted by a loving family (photos 2-4).

Alexandria came close a few times to being adopted, but the cost of her food or medicine deterred potential adopters. Alexandria was patient, always appreciative of the love and attention she got from our dedicated shelter volunteers, and stayed hopeful that she would be chosen.

Then the right family came along and, with the boost provided by the Petfinder Foundation grant our shelter was awarded, this loving family is committed to making their home Alexandria’s furr-ever home.

We are so very thankful for the grant our shelter was awarded and being able to find the purr-fect home for Alexandria. Our volunteers will miss her, but are so very happy for her, too! We at Forgotten Felines wish her and her new family all the best!
