Montreal SPCA: Dog Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The project Play Yard Renovation for Montreal SPCA is still ongoing, as the mural installation and painting work remain to be completed. Approximately $3,000 has been spent to date to install permanent agility-style structures (such as balance platforms, A-frames, tunnels, teeter-totters, and jumps) that promote controlled movement, confidence, and positive training interactions. Shade sails have been added to protect dogs and handlers during the warmer months.
The remaining $2,000 will be used to complete the mural installation and painting work. Should another interim report be requested, we would be pleased to provide you with a further update.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Marley (photos 1 and 2), an incredibly lovable 10-year-old dog affectionately known as “the crooner” because he would sing with joy whenever he caught sight of our team members, and a friend to both cats and other dogs, left the shelter on May 20, 2026, to join his new family.
Thanks to the generous funding received from the Petfinder Foundation, Marley was able to benefit from enhanced enrichment activities that supported his well-being and quality of life until he found his new, loving family. Through the use of permanent agility structures, including balance platforms, tunnels, teeter-totters, and various obstacles, Marley was able to develop and strengthen his motor skills, confidence, and ability to adapt.
These positive experiences contributed to his overall well-being and development, and we are confident that they’ve helped him become a balanced, confident companion who is deeply cherished and appreciated by his new adoptive family.
Your grant helped make these meaningful experiences possible for Marley and the hundreds of other dogs who benefit from the improvements made to the dog enrichment program. Your support has directly contributed to providing them with the care, stimulation, and attention they need to thrive. It is important to note that since January, 283 dogs taken into the care of the SPCA, including Marley, have been adopted by loving and welcoming families.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your support and trust, which enable us to improve the quality of life of animals, as well as that of the people who love them and whose lives are positively impacted by their presence.
