Ten Lives Cat Rescue: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Senior Pet Adoption Grant provided post-adoption funding for a senior cat who had been in our program for one year.

Due to Lenny's chronic health issues and age, we knew that he would need an adopter who could commit to providing regular and sick veterinary care. This funding enabled the rescue to provide post-adoption support to help reduce the cost burden associated with caring for a senior cat with chronic health issues.

Lenny was a senior cat in our program who faced numerous health challenges, including chronic upper-respiratory infections, dental disease, ringworm, feline immunodeficiency virus, and a heart murmur.

While in our care, Lenny was treated for ringworm, received care from an internal-medicine specialist for chronic respiratory infections, and had an echocardiogram.

We knew Lenny would need an adopter who would be able to provide adequate post-adoption vet care for recurring URIs and any complications with his heart. The Senior Pet Adoption Grant provided funding to help reduce the cost of these expenses for a potential adopter.

During a time when the cost of veterinary care is unaffordable for many, this grant helped reduce that burden. We are thrilled to report that Lenny has since been adopted and is loving life! He’s the king of his new home and he loves snuggling with his dad and bossing around his doggy brother.
