Equine Rescue of Aiken: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant money was used to help fund a supply of hay to our rescue horses.

This grant helped our organization during the COVID-19 time as our donations dropped below 70%. We were in desperate need of hay and feed during this time to feed our horses and this grant money helped offset some of the costs of hay.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This grant was able to help many horses, but to name a few specifically: It helped Chrome (first photo), a starvation case we brought in who was seized locally and came in emaciated. He is on his way to recovery now and we hope he will make a full recovery (second photo).

Another horse whom is was able to help is Tizabullet (third photo). Tiz came off the racetrack with a bowed tendon that needed rehabilitation and has been in our care.

Another horse whom we were able to help was BJ Diablo (fourth photo). He was a horse we took in as a transfer from another rescue facility and has been here for two years. BJ came from Puerto Rico. He flew here by plane and has been a key component in our veterans program. BJ found his perfect home during COVID-19 and will start his new career!
