Paisley's Bunny Rescue: Other Animals Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was applied for to help spay some of the 20 rescued female bunnies Paisley’s had at the time of the grant application. Paisley's pays $160 to spay a female bunny, which makes spaying the 20 bunnies at Paisley’s cost $3,200. With the Petfinder Foundation grant, Paisley’s was able to spay six of the bunnies. With the six bunnies now vetted and spayed, they have been placed on Petfinder to find their permanent homes. Four are still on Petfinder and two have already been adopted.

How many pets did this grant help?

It helped spay six of the 20 bunnies Paisley's had in its care at the time of the grant.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Through the Petfinder Foundation grant, one of the bunnies spayed is Bella Rose, aka Gunshot Annie.

Gunshot Annie was abandoned in a state park in Georgia and later found by a forest ranger. She was transferred to a state shelter that was full and was placed on the shelter’s euthanasia list.

Paisley’s heard about Gunshot Annie, pulled her and had her vetted. It was discovered that she had several buckshot pellets in her. The vet recommended not operating immediately, but rather to wait until she was spayed to remove the pellets near her eye and jawline.

Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation, she is now spayed and the six pellets were removed before causing her permanent damage.

Gunshot Annie is now known as Bella Rose and she is an adorable little cuddle bug. She has bonded with two other bunnies at the shelter, Simon and Care Hare. They have been placed on Petfinder to find a loving forever home together.

You can meet Bella Rose here.
