How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The funds were used to cover unexpected medical expenses for emergency-case animals coming in amidst COVID-19, in addition to providing additional funds for spay/neuter procedures, microchip implantation, and rabies vaccines for shelter pets.
This grant was instrumental in aiding Animal Harbor in caring for several dire-need cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. The money was used to treat Logan, a dog with severe skin allergies; Pineapple Willy, who had a previous untreated injury resulting in a broken pelvis; Sweet Ellie, who needed an x-ray to access a swollen limb; Tiller, a kitten who was thrown from a moving vehicle and left with many injuries; and finally, it enabled a total of five cats to be altered, microchipped, and rabies-vaccinated.

Hello, my name is Tiller. I am the life of the party, and if you desire a kitten who will keep you on your toes, well I am your guy! I was thrown from a car going down a busy main highway, and lucky for me, a good Samaritan stopped to pick me up and rushed me to Animal Harbor for quick assistance. The ladies at Animal Harbor immediately took me to the vet, and a group of special doctors helped me to get back on my feet. I am very thankful. I am now doing great, and I am ready for my new home. Many times I worried if anyone would love me, but now I know there IS a wonderful family out there waiting for a kitten just like me. (Tiller is awaiting adoption.)
Logan is a great Dane mix, born to be the light of a special family’s lives. Logan is 7 years old, and prior to coming to Animal Harbor, he lived a life of neglect, both physically and emotionally. Physically un-cared-for by a previous human, Logan came in with hair missing all over his body; he was successfully treated and is looking great now. He was also completely shut down and terrified of humans, and it took patience, time, and love to show Logan that humans can be good to animals. Logan is the definition of a gentle giant. He will need to be in a home that understands his special needs and is gentle, quiet, and patient in their training. Logan loves to play ball and he opens up greatly once he gets to know you.
