Tennessee Dachshund Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Kia Pet Adoption Grant made it possible for us to launch our “Seniors for Seniors” program, offering free adoptions to senior citizens who welcomed senior dogs into their homes. This impactful initiative not only helped reduce the number of long-term senior dogs in our care, but also ensured that more of them found loving, comfortable homes where they could truly thrive.

At 14 years old, most dogs are curled up on a familiar couch, living out their golden years surrounded by love. But not Senior Snuggles. He was still waiting for that couch, still waiting for someone to see past his age and his stage-4 heart murmur and simply see him.
Enter Terry, a kind-hearted senior citizen living with a disability. He wasn’t looking for a jogging partner or a high-energy pup. He was looking for exactly what Snuggles had to offer: quiet companionship, unconditional love, and a warm little body to curl up in his lap.
It was a match made in heaven.
Thanks to our Seniors for Seniors program, made possible by grant support, Terry was able to adopt Snuggles without the burden of adoption fees. What he gained was immeasurable — a loyal shadow, a reason to smile every morning, and a soft heartbeat to soothe his soul.
And Snuggles? He finally got his couch. His lap. His person.
They found each other when the world might’ve overlooked them both, and together, they’ve made a home filled with love.
