Special Pals: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our COVID-19 relief grant helped us cover the medical costs for the animals accepted into our program. In addition to covering the cost of several spay and neuter surgeries, we purchased ringworm treatment medications and supplies.

Our community hit the pause button on life as normal from mid-March to May -- but no one stops Mother Nature! During the pandemic, Special Pals accepted 118 animals into our program who required spay/neuter surgery. Of them, 92 were neonatal puppies and kittens.

How many pets did this grant help?

118

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Several litters that we rescued this spring and summer arrived with ringworm and required treatment. Among them were the “soccer cats”: Pele, Beckham, Julie, and Carli. Happily, after lots of time in foster care and with care from our vet techs and staff, they are fully recovered and have been adopted by their forever families!
