Texas Humane Heroes: Purina and Amazon Treats for the Holidays Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Friskies Party Mix cat treats given to us through the Purina and Amazon Treats for the Holidays campaign, organized by the Petfinder Foundation, were used to provide much-needed pampering to our homeless cats and kittens waiting for their forever homes.

Many of the cats we rescue and adopt into loving families are transferred in from municipal shelters that kill for space; most have been through a great deal of stress before they arrive at our adoption center. Your treats have helped them feel relaxed and loved and have given them some pleasure during this transitional phase in their lives. We very much appreciate your generous support!

Miss Kitty (calico) was one of our long-term residents who was a little unsure around people but was very treat-motivated. By having treats on-hand, we were able to get her very comfortable with people and she came out of her shell. The family that adopted her actually used treats to get Miss Kitty to socialize with them when they visited her. She is now in her forever home.

Zoro (blue male) was a very energetic cat who loved to play and didn’t really want to spend time with people. With the help of treats to socialize him, he was able to bond with potential adopters and find his own happy home.
