Friends of Rowlett Animals: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Toby came into a municipal shelter after having been hit by a car. He had a shattered leg and fractured pelvis. The city budget does not include funding for complicated surgeries such as an amputation. We were able to raise some funds from the community and decided we would help Toby get the lifesaving surgery he needed. The only other option for him through the city was humane euthanasia.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We found a foster home for Toby and he was restricted to his kennel for six weeks after surgery so his fractured pelvis could heal. Thanks to the wonderful care of his foster parent, he was recently cleared by the vet to resume normal activities.

Toby has already been adopted to a family that had prior experience with an amputee cat! It truly is heartwarming to know that Toby will have a great life versus being euthanized for medical reasons at the shelter. We can’t thank you all at the Petfinder Foundation enough for the support!
