Crossed Paws Animal Haven: Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

CPAH purchased dog beds from Orvis for our rescues and supplied them to our fosters.

By receiving the grant, we were able to supply our fosters with Orvis beds so they could be used for our rescued animals until they find their furever homes. It allows the dogs a place of their own to sleep and relax in rather than being on couches or lying on lower-quality beds. We instantly noticed that the rescued dogs all wanted to lie on the beds we purchased.

How many pets did this grant help?

At least 10 at this point, but more will be benefited as they come into our rescue and are placed in foster homes.

CPAH rescued Bullseye, a 9-month-old great Dane (first photo), from our county shelter after he was abandoned by his previous owners. He was emaciated and extremely sick when we brought him into our rescue program and placed him into a loving foster home. It wasn’t until after a month in our care that he began to gain weight and play with the other animals. Part of his normal day-to-day routine is to lie on the extra-large Orvis bed we purchased thanks to the Orvis Animal Care Grant we received. While he does have to share with CPAH’s Dogue de Bordeaux foster, Hank (second photo), he still loves relaxing and sleeping on the Orvis bed as he continues his recovery under our care.
