Hill Country SPCA: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money was used to purchase DHPP and FVRCP vaccinations, Heartworm tests, Panacur Dewormer, Microchips, and Syringes

This Free Vaccination Clinic gave us the opportunity to help vaccinate the animals in our community that would have otherwise been at risk of disease. Not only that but we were able to microchip and register the microchip of every animal that came into our clinic, so these animals can be reunited if separated from their owners. The clinic also gave us the opportunity to talk to the owners about the importance of Spay & Neuter, and to refer them to our local S/N organization. This grant had a huge impact on our community, and we herd nothing but positive feedback in the following months.

How many pets did this grant help?

100 Dogs and 25 Cats were able to be completly medically brought up to date thanks to your grant oppertunity.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We had a family who had herd about the Free Vaccination Clinic come in with 8 little puppies crammed tightly together in a crate covered in fleas. They told us they had female dogs at home and just didn’t know what to do. They didn’t want the puppies, and had even more at home, but couldn’t stop it from happening. We sat with them and counseled them on Free Spay/Neuter options in our area, we helped them get in touch with an organization to fix the female dogs. We then offered to take these 8 in, and asked them to bring the other puppies at home when they were old enough. We have now received 12 puppies from this family we never would have known needed help. We changed the lives of not only these puppies, but the entire family. We have followed up with them and made sure they had the help needed in getting their dogs fixed so that this cycle could stop.
