Three Little Pitties Rescue: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Three Little Pitties Rescue is foster-based, but we often don't have enough fosters for all our dogs. Our facility has kennel space to board those dogs without fosters, or those needing special care such as heartworm treatment or medical recovery.

Like most rescue groups, money is tight and we rely on donations of blankets and towels for use in the kennels. The P.L.A.Y. Bed award has meant that every resident has a soft place to rest their heads. For many of these dogs, it is the first time they have been safe, warm, clean, and fed.

We love watching a new dog explore his bed and then walk in circles to find just the right spot. The P.L.A.Y. beds are washable, which makes life easy on the volunteers who do laundry, and they are durable, which means they will last and can be used for multiple animals.

Thank you, Petfinder Foundation, for giving our deserving dogs the amazing gift of comfort and warmth!

In June 2022, a construction crew preparing a site for demolition heard what they thought were animals crying underneath the building. One of the workers was able to get into a crawlspace and found Mona and her four littermates. The body of Mona’s deceased mother was found near the puppies. Three Little Pitties took possession of the litter and their lives were changed forever!

Mona was featured on our initial P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Facebook post and we are thrilled to say that she was adopted the same week! On Aug. 20, 2022, Mona made her journey from Friendswood, TX, to her new family in the Pacific Northwest.

This is what Mona’s new mom says:

“From the first time we saw Mona Lisa on the 3LP website, our hearts melted, and we began to plan what our lives and routines would be like if she lived with us and especially with our 6-year-old.

“We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to be chosen to adopt her, and we quickly got everything ready to welcome her into our family. This first week with her has been magical and full of joy, lots of love, hugs, kisses, and tail-wagging. Mona Lisa has quickly adjusted to us and, little by little, we are getting to know her sweet and playful character.

“Yesterday we went hiking with her for the first time, our favorite activity in the Pacific Northwest, and I must say that we have discovered an adventurous soul in her. We are definitely very lucky to have her as a member of our family, and we feel she is also lucky to have us, as we will make sure she always has everything she needs to thrive and be happy. We cannot be more grateful to 3LP for this beautiful opportunity of life that they gave us!”
