Dallas Animal Services: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Dallas Animal Services staff is using the KONG toys we received from this Petfinder Foundation grant as part of the canine-enrichment program. Staff distribute stuffed KONG toys to shelter dogs daily!

Dallas Animal Services' canine-enrichment program is pretty robust, with external kennel activities such as playgroups and coordinated runs with volunteers, but the KONG toys received from this Petfinder Foundation grant allow for some in-kennel activity as well.

How many pets did this grant help?

We estimate that over the course of these KONG toys' lifetime, 720 shelter dogs will benefit from this grant!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Willie is a sweet pit mix who came in as a stray with a broken pelvis. As he is recovering, Willie is unable to participate in playgroups or the volunteer running program, so these KONG toys have provided him with mental and physical stimulation within his kennel. Since Willie also LOVES to eat, the stuffed KONG toy is the highlight of his day!

Surprisingly, Willie is still available for adoption. His Petfinder profile is here.
