Gulf Coast Humane Society: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped us start revamping our cattery and kittery. The rooms now look more welcoming, the cats are able to entertain themselves and play with each other, and the overall morale among animals and staff is definitely higher. Thank you!

How many pets did this grant help?

764 to 800

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Allure, who is still available, is very timid around new people. Typically we let her out alone and the two or three staff members who are in the cattery will give her attention and play with her so she can get used to playing and being around people.

As some of the items from the grant came in, we started setting them up and would still let Allure out. While she explored the new items, she loved the cat hammock that we set up on one of the windows looking out into the shelter.

She now spends her days loving staff by lying on their laps, looking out into the shelter, watching her TV, and lounging around.

You can meet Allure here.
