Grooming

We are a rescue for Alaskan Malamutes. Large, furry dogs :-) The majority of the Mals we pull from shelters, have been running at large, or if owner-released, have not been in a good situation. Several times their fur has been so matted, the only course of action is to shave them. All of the Mals appreciate a fresh bath and smelling clean, and they really enjoy the soothing massage when the shampoo is applied. Obviously it also helps when showing the dogs to potential adopters if they are clean and fluffy. The shampoo provided with this grant, Wahl Oatmeal Formula and Coconut Lime Verbena, we will definitely purchase. It lathers up nicely and the moisturizing additive left the Mals' coats soft and shiny.

How many pets did this grant help?

At least a dozen. We still have some shampoo left.

Cain, a senior Malamute we pulled from a rural shelter, was so matted he could not walk properly, as the mats at the top of his legs were restricting him. Sadly he could not go to the bathroom either as the mats were so thick. While shaving him, we found an assortment of items embedded in his fur. Everyone loves Cain’s sweet personality! He’s been adopted and lives the happy and comfortable life he deserves.

Beast, a 2-3-year-old Malamute, was transported to Virginia from South Korea!

Wolfie developed an eye infection when he was about six months old. Rather than take him to a veterinarian, his owner turned him into [an open-admission] shelter. Because the infection was not treated, Wolfie became blind while still a puppy. Our rescue had him for a little over three years before he was adopted. Wolfie loves his new family and we’re very grateful to them.
