Wenatchee Valley Humane Society: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received Kongs as part of our enrichment program. We stuff them and give them to dogs each morning.

As one of our five enrichment tools, Kongs give our shelter dogs something to focus on in the mornings. They are stuffed with canned food, so it's a nice treat and keeps them focused on that, rather than the distractions going on around them with cleaning protocols.

How many pets did this grant help?

353

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Conan (first photo), an adult male German shepherd, was brought into the shelter as a stray in January, adopted and then returned in March because of his size. Thanks to this grant, during his second stay he was provided with a stuffed Kong every morning. This gave him something fun to do in his kennel, gave him a treat and helped keep his mind off the noise and distraction of kennel cleaning. Conan was again adopted on May 5!
