Coulee Region Humane Society: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Petfinder Foundation Cat Enrichment Grant allowed CRHS to purchase Stretch and Scratchers for the cats at our shelter. This greatly enhances the quality of each cat's time at the shelter, providing them with outlets that benefit their mental, emotional, and physical health, and in turn encouraged the cats to display positive behaviors, making them more appealing to potential adopters.
How many pets did this grant help?
450 cats
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Jackpot (first photo) and his brother Jumping Jack (second photo) came into the shelter as strays; they were only 8 weeks old and had been found in a rural area, abandoned and cold. Both had raging upper-respiratory infections in addition to being infested with lice.
With two rounds of antibiotic treatments, lice treatment, vitamin support, and lots of loving care from staff and volunteers at CRHS, Jumping Jack and Jackpot are now healthy and handsome 14-week-old kittens who are ready for their forever home!
The Stretch and Scratchers purchased with the Petfinder Foundation Cat Enrichment Grant helped these kittens and many others like them by providing a very important source of entertainment and enrichment while they were confined to their kennel space due to their respiratory illness and ongoing lice treatment.
As you can see from the pictures, they are very happy and mischievous boys who continue to enjoy their Stretch and Scratchers so much that they need new ones weekly!
