Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, Inc.: A Shot at Life Vaccination Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Just prior to receiving this grant we took in a large number of cats from a hoarding situation and 51 dogs from a breeder / mill situation. This put a large strap on our resources and the shots helped us stretch our resources.
We also operate a low cost spay neuter clinic and were able to help a number of local rescue groups provide low cost vaccinations for their pets.

How many pets did this grant help?

Over 200 dogs and 300 cats.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Stevie came to us from horrible conditions. He was one of 144 cats from a hording situation. They were living in barns and cages. When the elderly owner got sick and could not come to care for the animals, many additional animals perished. Those in the cages were most greatly affected. Stevie is blind and some how managed to survive. Once with us, he showed himself to be affectionate as well as a survivor. He was adopted.
