Shadow was locally famous because she was on the run for a long time before being captured and brought into the shelter. She was an older gal living her life in a corn field in Beloit and evading rescue at every turn. She had many many people attempting to get her to safety, caring for her, and watching out for her.
Many community members were involved with tracking her and making sure she was safe. Eventually, everyone’s efforts paid off and Shadow was able to get to HSSW!
Once at HSSW, Shadow was understandably shocked, terrified, and overwhelmed. It took about three days for staff to earn her trust enough to be able to take her out of her kennel for a walk. After that first walk, Shadow began to trust us more and more and welcomed pets, snuggles, and many more walks. As time has gone on, Shadow has shown us her true personality: spunky! She is playful and goofy and loving — what more could you ask for?
Shadow was adopted and is settling into her new home wonderfully! After being on the run for so long before coming to the shelter, she needed to find the perfect home that could be patient with her as she settled in.
Her funds will continue to be used over the coming months as she comes due for her annual exam and vaccinations and as they continue to purchase her food and treats.
Her new family reports, “She is adjusting well and enjoys hanging out in the yard, going for walks, playing with her toys and snuggling. She’s such a sweet dog and so eager to please.”
