Dog & Cat Shelter: A Shot at Life Vaccination Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received 200 of each DAP and FVRCP+FLEV+Chlamydia. Unfortunately, the DAP vaccine did not include parainfluenza. The bordatella vaccine we give also does not include parainfluenza. In order to give some measure of protection against parainfluenza in our shelter we need to give a DA2PPV. Chlamydia is not recommened as a core vaccine. Not recommended to be given unless a documented problem has been seen. There is a increased chance of vaccine reactions with Chlamydia in the vaccine. Therefore our vet suggested not to use these vaccines. We in return donated this vaccine to a cat rescue that was in need and they vaccinated 129 cats in Sheridan County and the rest vaccines were used to vaccinate feral cats in Montana. The same rescue took the dog vaccines to help vaccinate dogs on the reservation.

The vaccines were used to cut down illness amount the population of feral cats and provide needed vaccinations for low income families in the Sheridan County and Big Horn County area.
