Friends of All Critters at Shelters: Play Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

FOACAS provides essential items for all the pets in our care, including beds, food, leashes, harnesses, toys, and medical care. The product grant of 10 P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds helped us to provide Chill Pads for 10 of the pets in foster homes. Many of these pets had never experienced a soft, comfy bed before coming to FOACAS, and every bit of comfort and safety we can offer is a key part of their recovery and journey from despair to forever homes.

Sasha is a miracle. She is an 11-month-old Rottweiler-hound mix who spent most of her life living in a small room at a local motel with a cruel owner who abused her. She finally ran away and was picked up by Animal Control, only to end up in the shelter two days before it locked down for a canine influenza outbreak.

Sasha recovered from a mild case of canine influenza but spent six weeks in isolation, never meeting other dogs and only interacting with humans in hazmat suits.

The day her isolation ended, FOACAS pulled her from the shelter and she has been thriving in a loving foster home. She has learned to play with stuffed animals, run around the backyard, and walk well on a leash, and she is overcoming her shyness with humans and her hesitancy around other dogs. Most of all, she loves her comfy beds.

Sasha has not yet been adopted; we can’t erase her past but we are working every day to rewrite her future and we are confident that her perfect family will find her. You can view her Petfinder profile here.
