Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary and Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
It has helped those who may not have all the money it takes to adopt an animal. They can provide, but the upwards of hundreds of dollars to adopt may be hard to put together. In the past, this grant has helped us get several dogs adopted. We live in a rural area, and most people live on limited incomes. They can factor dog food into their monthly bills, but not a full hundred dollars and pet food to adopt animals.

Larger dogs are always harder to find homes for, and that was the case with Mikey. Mikey is a 56-lb. Plott hound. Typically, hunters use these dogs, but Mikey was neutered, so a hunter would not use him to hunt.
We were invited to an event for coonhounds and took Mikey with us. Several families looked at him, but there was one in particular that was best suited for his needs. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation grant, we were able to facilitate an adoption. It was a retired hunting family that adopted Mikey, and he will be a pet and a couch potato now, thanks to the Petfinder Foundation grant.
