Little Traverse Bay Humane Society: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to the support of this grant, our Snout n About field-trip program has been able to give shelter dogs the chance to experience joyful outings in the community. Outfitted with our new branded backpacks, harnesses, and supplies, volunteers take dogs on safe and enriching adventures that provide exercise, reduce stress, and introduce them to potential adopters. These field trips not only brighten the days of pets in our care but also help them build confidence and make meaningful connections that lead to forever homes.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of the dogs who benefited from our Snout n About program was Fiona, a sweet pup who came to us from another shelter where she had been overlooked and was at risk of euthanasia. With Fiona outfitted in her new harness and backpack gear, our team took her on a field trip and shared photos and insights about her personality with our community. The very next day, thanks to that visibility and the joy she radiated on her outing, Fiona found her forever home!
