Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
One of the cats that we adopted out the first day was Licorice (first photo). Licorice is a 4-year-old black cat. He is very nice but was not what people were looking for: They want kittens and not black cats. With the help of KIA, we were able to make Licorice free. We have followed up with the adopters and they love the cat.
Honeycomb (second and third photos) came to the shelter on Feb. 25, 2025, as a stray. He was a 2-year-old black-and-tan Lab mix. Honeycomb was beginning to struggle being in the shelter, displaying high anxiety and undesirable behaviors. We had him placed on anxiety medication to help with this. With the help of KIA, we were able to adopt him out for a reduced fee. It is reported from the adopters that Honeycomb is doing great at his new home and travels everywhere with them.
