Raining Cats and Dogs Shelter and Sanctuary, Inc.: Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to the generous support of the Petfinder Foundation grant, we were able to provide consistent, high-quality nutrition to the animals in our care during the first quarter of 2026. This support was especially critical as local business closures led to a decline in donated food, requiring us to rely more heavily on financial resources to meet basic needs. The grant helped offset these increased costs and ensured our animals remained healthy, comfortable, and adoption-ready.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Kevin, a senior Chihuahua (first photo), was rescued from a county shelter during the holiday season in late 2025. Upon intake, it was clear he required extensive dental care, and he ultimately underwent a full-mouth extraction.

Because of this, Kevin relied entirely on soft, canned food during his recovery and beyond. The wet food provided through the Petfinder Foundation grant allowed us to meet his specific dietary needs, keeping him nourished, comfortable, and thriving despite his medical challenges. With proper nutrition and care, Kevin blossomed — and we’re thrilled to share that he was adopted in April of 2026 into a loving home.

Bobbin and Bolt, a pair of young cat brothers, also benefited directly from this grant. With access to both wet and dry cat food, we were able to support their growth, health, and overall well-being while they awaited adoption. Proper nutrition played a key role in keeping them happy, active, and appealing to potential adopters.

Recently, both Bobbin and Bolt found their forever homes — separately, but each joined loving families where they can continue to thrive.
