Humane Society of Marion County: Dog Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We are so excited about all the items we were able to purchase with the Dog Enrichment Grant. We got Jolly Balls, chew toys, indestructible balls, snuffle mats, agility equipment, and even two XL swimming pools!
The pools have been a hit in the over-100 degree temperatures. It is the cutest thing to see the dogs bouncing around in the fresh water enjoying themselves. They are having so much fun and the pools are so nice.
The agility equipment has been amazing for the volunteers who walk the dogs. The snuffle mats keep the dogs occupied in their kennels. We are beyond thrilled with all the items and appreciate this grant so much. It has helped our dogs tremendously and will help many more in the future.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
This grant has helped Forrest, one of the Labradoodles we have at our shelter.
Forrest (first three photos) is a large dog and full of energy. He and his brother Nat (photos 4 and 5) never seem to get tired, as they are very active and playful dogs. They both love water. The swimming pools have been such a hit with almost all the dogs, but especially Nat and Forrest. They jump around and play together in the pools — it is so cute.
Being high-energy dogs, they need all the healthy outlets to expend energy that they can get, and these pools are perfect for just that. In addition, Forrest and Nat certainly enjoy cooling off in the hot (over 100-degree) temperatures we have had this summer.
These swimming pools have definitely enriched the lives of our dogs. We are so thrilled with them.
Nat and Forrest are still looking for forever homes.
