Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue: Shelter Foster Support Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We were able to stock our kitten-foster "go bags" with items needed for foster kittens.

These bags include things like bottles, a scale, rice warmers, wipes, baby food, wet food, litter, blankets, syringes, etc.

There are two different bag groups, one for neonates and one for weaned kittens. We hand out, on average, 200 of these each kitten season, which happens about three times per year in Arizona.

This grant enabled us to get the first batch of bags ready for the first wave of kittens, which started in January.

How many pets did this grant help?

400

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Wheeler is one of the many kittens whose lives were changed through support from the Petfinder Foundation foster program grant.

Like many young kittens entering rescue, Wheeler needed the safety and individualized care that only a foster home can provide. Thanks to this grant, Sun Cities 4 Paws was able to place him in a nurturing foster environment where he received proper nutrition, socialization, and daily attention while he grew stronger and healthier.

Today, Wheeler is thriving — proof of how critical foster support is in giving vulnerable kittens the best possible start on their journey to a loving home — and he was just adopted over the weekend!
