Itty Bitty Bottle Babies: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our group is entirely foster-based. All our kittens are raised in loving homes, learning to be good cats and great pets. Buying toys has always been prioritized after food, litter, vet visits, etc.

This grant allowed us to purchase exercise wheels for two foster homes in which there is limited space for kittens to run. It bought a fireball track for one home to allow kittens to hone hunting skills. It also bought an interactive toy for each home that gives kittens unexpected sounds and motion to chase. None of these purchases would have been possible without the Petfinder Foundation's grant.

How many pets did this grant help?

About 200

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Chardonnay was not a healthy girl. Chronic upper-respiratory infections kept her weight and energy levels low.

As she began to improve, we introduced her to the Fireball track, an interactive toy that allowed her to chase a flashing ball in a limited space. She got the thrill of the hunt without expending all of her limited energy. It became her favorite pastime. As she played, her strength improved.

Though she still has URI issues, she is as active as any other 6-month-old. She is now adopted and happy in her fur-ever home.
