Campbell River Partners for Animal Welfare Society: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Campbell River Partners for Animal Welfare Society (CRPAWS) is a cat rescue society which works to rescue feral and semi-feral cats requiring medical attention, fostering and socializing, and adoption. If rescued feral cats are determined to be more suitable for TNR or barn/shop placements, we work with caregivers to give these cats the best opportunity to live their lives in safe environments after receiving spay/neuter and appropriate medical care.

CRPAWS is grateful to have received this grant, which allowed us to take into our care 12 cats and kittens from a semi-rural property locate on Quadra Island, British Columbia. This grant went directly to the costs for spay/neuter, vaccination, SNAP testing, and anti-parasitic and flea treatments for 12 cats.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Rosie (first photo) was an approximately 4-month-old kitten trapped on Quadra Island. She was quite feral and has been in our foster care since spring 2024. She is slowly learning to trust humans, cuddling in bed at night and learning to play and enjoy gentle pampering.

She is now posted on Petfinder as ready for adoption by a patient adopter who will respect and understand Rosie’s boundaries and need for a calm and quiet home. Meet Rosie here.

Sally (second photo) was approximately a year old when she was trapped on Quadra Island. She was semi-feral and came into our care in spring 2024. Her foster mom and Sally formed a quick bond with each other and her foster mom became a “foster fail,” with Sally’s adoption being finalized in August.
