Pasadena Humane: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to your generous support, Pasadena Humane’s Dog Field Trip Program has flourished, giving nearly 500 shelter dogs the chance to stretch their legs, explore new environments, and enjoy much-needed adventures outside the shelter. Whether it’s a sandy beach day, a scenic hike, or a cozy slumber party, these outings provide enrichment, relaxation, and valuable insights into each dog’s personality, helping us find them the perfect forever homes.

Your grant made these adventures even better by equipping our dedicated volunteers with essential supplies, including:
– 5 backpacks for carrying on-the-go essentials
– 5 bags for treats to keep tails wagging
– 3 harnesses for safe and comfortable outings
– 50 “Adopt Me” leashes and 25 “Adopt Me” collars to help our dogs stand out and capture hearts

Beyond benefiting the dogs, these experiences strengthen volunteer engagement and deepen our community’s connection to Pasadena Humane’s mission. With your support, we’re well on our way to reaching our goal of 750 field trips this year!

From all of us—especially the happy pups—thank you for making these life-changing adventures possible!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Martino, a sweet but anxious 3-year-old pup, struggled with kennel stress — pacing, barking, and getting overlooked by adopters. But once he started going on field trips, everything changed. He relaxed, showed off his playful side, and won over volunteers with his love for car rides and peanut-butter treats. These field trips really gave our volunteers a chance to get to know him and let his true nature shine.

One day, the right family noticed. They saw his field-trip photos, fell in love, and scheduled a meet-and-greet. Since we’d learned so much about him, we knew it was a perfect match. Now, Martino is living his best life, going on adventures every day — just like the ones that helped him find his forever home!
