Passion for Pitties: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We applied for the Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant with the hopes of getting our longest resident adopted. Thor entered foster care within our rescue in 2020. Since that time, he has been in multiple foster homes. While he is a sweet dog, Thor does require ongoing medical treatment, which can be daunting for someone to take on and maintain. Receiving this grant funding gave Thor additional visibility and recognition, which helped to get him a forever home.

Thor was our longest resident at Passion for Pitties and had been in our care since 2020! While Thor is an amazing dog, he is an older dog with known medical issues. As a general rule, people tend to shy away from senior dogs with medical issues, even if they are great dogs!
Because of the Petfinder Foundation’s generosity, we were able to promote Thor in a way that we had been unable to previously. Passion for Pitties was able to promote that the grant funding would not only cover Thor’s adoption fee, but also future expenditures for him, such as his medications.
This was very motivational for Thor’s most recent foster, who decided that he could not spend the rest of his life knowing that someone else had “his dog.”
Mike decided to take the leap and Thor went from foster to forever! We could not be more thrilled with Thor’s happily ever after tail!
