Passion for Pitties: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our organization will use the grant to fully cover the adoption fee for Polly, a sweet 10-year-old senior dog in our care. Senior pets are often overlooked due to concerns about long-term costs, so our goal is to remove financial barriers and give Polly the best chance to find a forever, loving home.

We will use grant funds in two ways to benefit both Polly and her future adopter: Polly’s adoption fee will be fully waived, making her adoption more accessible and appealing to potential adopters; and we will coordinate with a local pet-supply partner to provide Polly’s adopter with access to prepaid resources, including:

-Medications or supplements commonly needed for senior pets
-Senior-specific or prescription diet food
-Nutritional treats and vitamins
-Enrichment items like an orthopedic bed, toys, or calming chews

These items will be available for pickup as needed, ensuring Polly’s comfort and care while easing the adopter’s financial commitment.

This support package will increase Polly’s chances of being adopted and help her adopter feel prepared and supported. Our goal is a smooth transition into a forever home where Polly can enjoy her golden years surrounded by love and comfort.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We sincerely thank the Petfinder Foundation for granting Passion for Pitties the support needed for our senior dog, Polly. Rescued from a shelter, Polly has found a place in our foster-care program. With this generous assistance, we are able to provide Polly with the continuous care necessary to ensure her health, comfort, and happiness as she eagerly awaits her forever home.

She is doing wonderfully and is a joyful pup. Polly serves as a reminder that senior dogs are incredible and still have an abundance of love to share. She is currently available for adoption and hopes to find a family to call her own soon.

Meet Polly here.
