Dog Star Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received the shipment of Kongs so quickly (thank you!) and we had such a dire need for Kongs that they were disbursed that same day! They went to fosters and to the dogs who are staying in our kennel location (that number varies but is generally 4-10).

We are 100% volunteer-run, and have volunteers come in to volunteer at our kennel building for three shifts a day. The last shift finishes around 7:30 p.m. and the first shift starts at 7:30 a.m. Overnight, we rely on these Kongs to keep the dogs busy! They will be used, washed, and shared by our kennel dogs until we can't use them anymore.

We also provide our amazing fosters with all of the supplies they need to keep one of our dogs in their home, which includes Kongs when we have enough. We can't get enough Kongs and we are SO very grateful for your help stimulating these amazing dogs who have found themselves in the care of our rescue.

How many pets did this grant help?

Countless! 100+

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Todd is one of the dogs who was staying in our headquarters’ kennel who enjoyed every second of his time chewing on the Kongs you delivered!

With his big floppy ears and love for fetch, Todd is the definition of a happy-go-lucky hound who is ready to win your heart. Todd is a sweet and playful 1-year-old hound mix who weighs 47 lbs. He was picked up by a kind citizen and brought to one of our partner shelters, and now he is ready to find his forever family.

With his fun-loving personality, Todd is sure to win hearts everywhere he goes. He loves playing fetch and enjoys romping around the yard with his dog buddies. He enjoys interactions with children and will welcome each and every one for a game of chase, fetch, tug of war, etc. He is a friendly boy who instantly warms up to all that greet him.

Todd has not yet been adopted. As you can see, he couldn’t take the time away from his Kong to smile for a picture.

You can meet Todd here.
