Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles, Inc.: Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Petfinder Foundation grant helped us greatly, allowing us to purchase expensive special diets for some of our pugs in need. These special diets– for example, Hills Digestive Care, Royal Canin Gastro, and Hills Urinary – are approximately $5 per can and mixed with dry food. Our special-diet costs are at least $1,500 per month.
Dogs with urinary problems cannot eat regular food or bladder stones will form; dogs with digestive problems either won't eat at all or their stomachs get extremely upset if not on the special diets. We also used some of the grant to help with surgery costs for Dukkah (see next section).

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Dukkah was an owner-relinquishment who came to us in horrible shape; he could no longer urinate and his condition was critical. Over a few months, Dukkah had three different surgeries to solve his urinary problems and now is one of the dogs on the special Hills Urinary Diet; he would not be able to survive without it and certainly could not have survived without the surgeries, which were partially funded by the Petfinder Foundation grant.
