Tiny Paws and Whiskers: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We often take in sick kittens, or kittens who have contagious conditions like ringworm. Keeping cats in a sanitary environment while also providing them plenty of enrichment can be challenging. With this grant, we were able to buy several new cat towers that included washable beds and hammocks, as well as easy-to-clean surfaces. We were also able to buy many new toys and scratchers to encourage play and mental enrichment in our kittens. Many kittens that benefited from this grant have already been adopted.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Orange Julius (first photo) was in a foster home that had a severe ringworm outbreak. After trying to get it under control for weeks, we decided that all the existing cat towers, scratchers, and toys would need to be trashed since they could continue to spread the ringworm spores.

With this grant, we were able to purchase a new cat tower, scratchers, and toys for Orange Julius and all his foster friends to continue to play on.

After we replaced the infected items, we were finally able to keep all of the kittens free from ringworm and Orange Julius found his forever home!
