This grant helped us care for Josephine and Finley.

Josephine is a 5-year old German Shepherd who was rescued from the shelter in August 2023 in her final hours due to severe skin infections, which were the worst in her face and ears.

We are still treating her for infections but most have subsided and her skin has been healing nicely. Josephine weighed 53 lbs. when we first got her; she now weighs 76 lbs. She is on a hydrolyzed/hypoallergenic diet due to digestive issues. Josephine is in a foster home.

Meet Josephine here.

Finley is a scruffy 12-year-old, 12 lb. terrier mix who was abandoned in the streets and found his way to us via a good Samaritan. He has congestive heart failure and is on several medications and supplements. When Finley gets excited, he has hypoxic episodes, so we have to be mindful of this at all times and try to keep him calm. He also develops fluid in his abdomen, which we have had to drain twice.

Finley is quite the little character. He is super friendly and loves other dogs; however, he is not yet adopted.

Many adopters are intimidated by his medical condition, which includes hypoxic episodes which present like seizures. However, they don’t usually last long and he bounces right back. He cannot take any medications to control this because of his heart condition.

Finley is in a foster home with other small dogs and he is quite lively and follows his foster mom everywhere. He likes to sleep on top of his foster siblings and he loves licking feet.

Meet Finley here.
