Start from Scratch Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Kong products have always been a favorite for mental stimulation and fun! This grant helped showcase the fun side of our dogs as well as how to keep them busy with Kong cones. Dash, Sonic, and Waffles are so excited about the Kong chews and toys: Dash loves when we stuff the Kong with yogurt and pumpkin. It keeps him entertained for hours. Waffles loves chewing and chasing the Kong toys in the backyard. Sonic loves the Kong ball. We put peanut butter in the center and through it for some extra mental stimulation.

This donation from KONG helps highlight the fun, playful side of our pups to potential adopters. We are really able to show their personalities with these toys. They are so good for mental stimulation too when the dogs are alone or just want a fun puzzle. We are so grateful to Kong and the Petfinder Foundation for supporting the dogs in our care. THANK YOU!

Waffles was recently saved from Devore Shelter in California. When he arrived in his foster home, we were able to provide them with some of the donated Kong toys. He got so excited and took all of them out of the box and ran outside with them. It was a side of him that we hadn’t seen before! He was exuberant and playful. He also is a puppy and loved chewing on them! They have really helped him blossom. His fosters have now expressed interest in adopting him because he is so playful. The Kong toys really helped bring him out of his shell and helped with puppy chewing. They are in the process of adopting!
