T O Rescue: Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used it to construct a 30 ft x 30 ft play area essential for canine exercise. When new dogs arrive at our rescue, they undergo a period of decompression, socialization with other dogs, and environmental acclimation while undergoing medical procedures including microchipping, vaccines, deworming, and spaying/neutering. During this time, the dogs can safely enjoy outdoor activities in a secure play and exercise area until they are ready for adoption.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Lenny is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix. He weighs 12 lbs. and enjoys going for walks. He is potty-trained and does great in a crate. He is very loving and sweet. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed.

His story was that during the pandemic in 2021, he and his sister were dumped at our old location in Montclair, CA. His sister got adopted because she was human-friendly, but he wasn’t because he was growling, unsocialized, and trying to bite.

He has not been adopted yet and his Petfinder posting can be viewed here.
